What is a DWI/DUI ADETS Assessment in North Carolina?

A DWI/DUI assessment and some form of treatment is a required for individuals convicted with driving while impaired in North Carolina. The assessment is conducted by a certified substance abuse professional and determines what level of education or treatment is needed.

Types of treatments offered:

ADETS stands for Alcohol Drug Education Traffic School. It is a structured education program required by the NC DMV for those who qualify and satisfies most court cases for many DWI/DUI offenders. Completing ADETS is often a required step before having your license restored.

Who qualifies for ADETS

  • Offenders that have a BAC of .15 or below
  • First time offenders that have not received a DUI/DWI before
  • Do not have a current or previous substance abuse diagnosis

In and out of State DWI/DUI ADETS Assessments

If you live outside of North Carolina but were charged with a DWI or DUI in the state of NC, you still need to complete a North Carolina approved assessment. The COOL Program provides out of state DWI/DUI reviews assessments for clients across the country. Many of our services are available virtually so you don’t have to travel to Winston-Salem. Our out of state DWI DUI review fee is $300 and includes everything you need to satisfy your North Carolina court requirements.

  • DWI/DUI Assessment: $116 includes-
  • A driving record that is required
  • 1 E-508 form to be sent to the DMV (additional charges require an additional fee.)
  • ADETS Class: $160 + $25 for required course book
  • Out of State DWI DUI Review: $300
